about

Immediately after death, Hermes, the messenger of the gods, led the spirit of the deceased on a journey to the River Styx. If their body had been buried, then Charon, the ferryman, transported you across the river.

This track features a Luthieros replica tortoise shell lyre - like it has never been heard before! To evoke the swooping of the wings of Hermes as he carries the soul of the deceased to the River Styx, I experimented in a percussive style of playing - using my carved bone plectrum to hit the desired strings blocked and strummed with the fingers of my left hand, whilst alternately tapping the side of the shell of my lyre with the side of the plectrum for spontaneously generated rhythm.
